Prayer for Priests O Jesus, our great High Priest, hear my humble prayers on behalf of Thy priests. Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope and a burning love which will ever increase in the course of their priestly life.
In their loneliness, comfort them. In their sorrows, strengthen them. In their frustrations, point out to them that it is through suffering that the soul is purified, and show them that they are needed by the Church; they are needed by souls; they are needed for the work of redemption.
O Loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take to your heart your sons who are close to you because of their priestly ordination and because of the power which they have received to carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs them so much. Be their comfort, be their joy, be their strength, and especially help them to live and to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy. AMEN
The late John J. Cardinal Carberry Second Bishop of Lafayette-in-Indiana Archbishop of St. Louis

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS CAR RAFFLE!
How about a little fun? A very generous anonymous donor has given the Office of Vocations a 1965 Milano Maroon Corvette Stingray! Father Brian drove the car around the diocese for a few weeks, but found the ladies could not resist a sophisticated man with salt-and-pepper hair in a sports car. So, Bishop has decided to raffle the car and establish an endowment for the special financial needs of the seminarians. Once again, the Knights of Columbus is assisting the Office of Vocations and is sponsoring the raffle to be held this spring/summer.
Please click here to go to the Knight’s website for more information or to purchase tickets!
The Knights of Columbus has been a great and generous supporter of seminarians for years. We all appreciate the work that they do for the Church!

What is Quo Vadis?
The Office of Vocations for the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana sponsors a discernment group called Quo Vadis (Latin: “Where are you going?”). The group consists of young men, typically 18 years and older, who are exploring the possibility they may be called to the priesthood or religious life.
Quo Vadis usually meets once per month in various parishes for dinner, Eucharistic Adoration, and fellowship. The men who attend Quo Vadis meet and visit with others who are also discerning – thus, creating an atmosphere of mutual support and encouragement. Quo Vadis has participants of varying backgrounds, circumstances and commitment. Obviously, participation is confidential.
The men (priests, seminarians and laymen) who are involved have found the group to be very worthwhile and enjoyable. Quo Vadis affords its participants an opportunity to ask questions, meet people, attend retreats and grow spiritually in a relaxed, informal setting.
If you would like more information or would like to participate in Quo Vadis, you are welcome! Please contact Father Brian Doerr at revbdoerr@priestforever.org.
Seminarian Dominic Petan Battles Cancer
Tests have confirmed that Dominic Petan, OLMC, St. Meinrad, 2nd year, has stage 4 diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Obviously, the doctors want to start treatment immediately. Dominic will begin chemotherapy on Friday, October 30, 2009. He has decided to remain in seminary and continue formation; the seminary has expressed unlimited support for Dominic. Dominic has asked that we pray through the intercession of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati for a healing and a cure.
Dominic has a blog where you may read more by clicking here.
Please keep Dominic and his family in your prayers and remember him especially at Mass. More updates to follow.
